Thrilling Driving Experience

For power, the CX-9 comes with a 273-horsepower V6 and a six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain earns up to 24 mpg on the highway and offers impressive towing power.

This is a great article to read before you head to our Mazda dealer in Chantilly for a test drive.
Founding In Japan
What is now the Mazda Motor Company began as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Company, which was founded in 1920 in Hiroshima, Japan. The first vehicle that this company made was a three-wheeled 1931 mini-truck named “Mazda.”
Mazda’s First Car: The R360 Coupe
It was 1960 when Mazda began to develop its first production car, the R360 coupe. A few years later, Mazda released its first pickup truck, the B-Series 1500, and then the 110S Cosmo Sport, the company’s first car with a rotary engine.
Mazda’s Rotary-Powered Sports Coupe: The RX2
Going with the success of the 110S Cosmo Sport, Mazda put a rotary engine into a sportier RX2 coupe and began selling it in the United States. It was a huge hit, so Mazda continued to improve it throughout the decade, offering the RX-3, RX-4, and RX-7 as well.
Mazda’s Sporty Revolution: The GLC, 626, and MX-5 Miata
In the 1980s and ‘90s Mazda experienced a growth in sales after offering the new GLC, 626, and MX-5 Miata sports convertible. These cars offered great value, athletic handling, and sleek styling.
Mazda’s Le Man’s Winning Racecar: The 787B
Mazda took home its first Le Mans victory in the 1990s with the 787B, a rotary-powered race car. This was also the first time that a Japanese carmaker had won the race, and the first and only time that a rotary-engine car won.
